Pottery classes in Berlin

A taster class on the wheel or in handbuilding usually takes two to three hours in Berlin. On the wheel you learn classic pottery; handbuilding means shaping freely by hand. Because pieces have to dry, be fired and glazed, you usually collect them from the studio two to six weeks later.

Tips for getting started

  1. A taster is enough for a first class. A multi-week course pays off once you want to get properly good at the wheel.
  2. Usually one to four finished pieces are included. Some studios charge glazing and firing per piece.
  3. Plan a second trip to collect your pieces. A studio near you saves a ride across Berlin.

FAQ: Pottery classes Berlin

How much does a pottery workshop cost in Berlin?

With the providers here, a single workshop costs €68 to €99 per person and lasts 2 to 3 hours. Multi-session courses and private lessons cost more. Check whether materials are included.

Do I need any experience?

No. Every workshop here is made for beginners, and the teacher shows you each step.

Is it available in English?

Yes, 12 of 17 providers teach in English or both languages. The language is listed for each provider.

When can I pick up my pottery?

After class the pieces dry, get a first firing, are glazed and fired again. That's why you usually collect them two to six weeks later. Studios let you know when they're ready and only keep pieces for a limited time, often four to eight weeks.
